Putin: Ukraine seeks later deadline for natural gas payments

Brussels - Ukraine has asked Russia's Gazprom to once again move back the deadline for the payment of $2.7 billion in arrears for last autumn's natural gas supplies, Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Tuesday. 

Putin, who was speaking during a news conference in Brussels after a European Union-Russia summit, also said Ukraine had asked for an installment scheme for payments for 2014 supplies of gas, which Russia is selling the neighboring country at a reduced price.

The Kyiv Post is disabling its online comment section due to an increase in trolls, violent comments and other personal attacks. Other news organizations worldwide have taken similar steps for the same reasons. The Kyiv Post regrets having to take this action. The newspaper believes in a robust public debate, but the discussion must be constructive and intelligent.
